Conclusion:

  • We need two command line flags:
    • --one-shot
    • --no-startup-limits

--one-shot is implemented via #1512

We decided not to implement --no-startup-limits, but improve the documentation on how to configure ntpd-rs to act like an SNTP client. See #1619
