Time to tag a new release? #207
Comments
This is related to the Debian packaging, https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/coz-profiler , where I unfortunately am unable to reach the package maintainer. I suspect someone need to assist or take over maintenance for coz-profiler to stay in Debian. There is also a handful security issues with libelfin related to this that need to be fixed, see https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/libelfin . |
I am considering forking libelfin, for what it’s worth. I am concerned about breaking the Debian package. Perhaps we can discuss this over mail? |

I guess, but IRC might be easier. I am pere on irc.debian.org.
I suspect someone need to take over both libelfin and coz-profiler in
Debian, and if you take over maintenance you can make sure there is no
breakage in Debian. I would be happy to sponsor you if you want to take
over, as I have been unable to reach the current maintainer.
Sadly time is almost up for an update in the next stable release. See
<URL: https://release.debian.org/ > for the timeline there.

Just for the record, I never heard anything on IRC, and the state of coz-profiler in Debian is not good. |
Sorry, I haven't used IRC in a million years. Can you recommend a Mac client? |

I use hexchat on Debian myself. No idea about MacOSX clients. The
inferiour and low bar to entry solution is to use a web page as the
client, <URL: https://www.oftc.net/WebChat/ >.

I'm ready for a new release.. |
I would be happy to help with anything related to nixpkgs (the packaging system coming with nixos). |
For the record, I plan to orphan the Debian package, as it is lacking an active mainainter, ref https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/coz-profiler . |
OK that would be a shame, but I would still welcome a new release :) |
If the repo version is working for everyone, I'm happy to tag a new release. Please confirm / upvote :). Also, if anyone would be willing to step up as a Debian maintainer, your help would be most welcome! |

No-one showed up for some years, and its primary maintainer has been
missing for several years, so I orphaned the packages today.

Please approach me on IRC if you are interested in taking responsibility
and adapting the packages. My emails to @gmail are rejected by Google,
breaking that email channel.
