I am trying to compile john in order to crack a password protected rar file on linux mint
When compiling using the INSTALL-UBUNTU documentation everything installs except REXGEN and when I compile it rar2john is still not there. Is there some specific library that I am missing in order for it to be able to compile the rar2john tool?

Use https://github.com/magnumripper/JohnTheRipper/ instead, this repository hasn't been updated for a very long time.
