R exiting with error code 0 #4437

The R session will randomly exit and I have to restart R, all the environment variables are removed as well. I get error "R 4.4.1 exited (exit code 0)" Here is the error message below: Positron Language Server Output Positron R Extension Output |

I had the same doubt since I am exclusively using .qmd, but i also got the same error with .R file. Haven't tested with .Rmd yet. |

I stand corrected, I have been extensively running the same code in .R and .qmd files and .R has not given me any errors. It seems the error could be limited to .qmd files. |

Hello, I have the same issue (R needed to restart, exit status 0).
It seem to be completly random...It's happenned very often this morning, so now I copy/paste my code to console. Positron install info :

I can confirm that the issue is actually only with a Quarto (.qmd) file. I copied my code in a .R file and ran it without any issues. |

I have run the same code that gave me errors before and everything seems to be working fine, it looks like the solution might have worked. The only thing I notice now is sometimes when I do ctrl + enter to execute code, it doesn't register immediately and I have to try it 2-3 times. This have never happened before. Additionally, the code execution has become noticeably slow as well. But the R exiting error has not happened in the last 2-3 days that I have tested. |

Glad to hear that R isn't exiting for you anymore! The team did some more careful cleanup of temp files in the PR with this fix quarto-dev/quarto#585 so we'll wait to see how the final fix behaves. If you see Ctrl+Enter problems with a published release of the Quarto extension and/or Positron, definitely please do open a new discussion or issue. 👍 |
