Map of Home and End keys to command+right_arrow or command+left_arrow does not work with MacOS Sonoma with external MAC Keyboard

Hello,

I have a 2021 MacBook Pro with Sonoma 14.5 and a Macally standard external MAC keyboard.

Now my Karabiner rules for home/end (nor shift-home/shift-end) do not work anymore? Similar behavior occurred with Ventura.

When I press the home key, the cursor moves to the top of the page (or document)
the end key move the cursor to the bottom of the page (or document)

I have:

• reinstalled karabiner and manually rm -rf all config files
• verified all my json files (permissions/etc) in $HOME/.config/karabiner/assets
• removed all rules but one and manually created only 1 to test (every time I modify a rule i restart karabiner)
• verified under devices my mac keyboard is set
• verified rules are in the right order (i.e. the home/end are at the top of the list)
• checked the logs and verified no errors
• verified under input monitoring karabiner-grabber karabiner_observer and karabiner_eventviewer are enabled
• verified the drivers have 'full disk access'
• Verified in the Log there are no errors
