Hello, it seems like you want to suggest an improvement to the Programming Discussions server!
Please make sure to answer all of the following (in prose or answering each individually):

What is it?

This will be more generic. The overarching improvement needed, that I see, is to better connect the users-with-questions to the users-with-answers. (more-so than having designated channels available for such questions)

Why do you think it's important to have?

In its current state, an answer to a question is subject to time spent observing chat in real-time. Some may wish to be more active in helping users than others. Currently, the only way to help more actively is to spend more time watching chat. I think we can find a solution to decrease the time required watching chat and still provide a level of help that one wishes to provide.

It's important if the intent of the server is to provide an environment to learn programming.

My reasoning:

  • can help create a more inviting community for people new to the subject of programming.
  • decreased amount of questions going unanswered amidst other conversations.
  • faster response times

(being stuck/frustrated/lost can very quickly end a newcomers further interest in programming. Everyone's perspective on this will be different, but overall this can be determined by the servers intentions)
