We know that through OPL, it's possible to emulate PS3/PS4 controllers by simply connecting them via USB, and they work seamlessly. Given this capability to emulate controllers, would it be possible to disable the Pressure Sensitive Face Buttons on the original PS2 controller?
This feature can be particularly problematic for people with tendinitis, as it requires pressing and holding buttons with considerable force. For example, in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, players have to hold the acceleration button for long periods during races, making the game almost unplayable for someone with tendinitis.
The goal would be to make only the face buttons fully digital, without requiring pressure sensitivity, while maintaining the original analog stick precision. If the entire controller were emulated like a PS4/PS5 controller via USB, it could potentially compromise the analog stick accuracy on the original PS2 controller.
This approach would offer a more accessible gaming experience without sacrificing control precision.
