There were significant changes done to the repo since v1.1.7 was released

This for me warrants a v2.0.0 released.
... "happy coincidence" that this will mean also updating pylint to v8.

It's going to take a while 😓

Indeed, there is no rush 😄 .

Looking at v1.1.7...master, I must agree that removing Python 3.6 and 3.7 is enough for the v2.

I would say though that pylint v8 is not required as it is fairly recent so it could come in a second step.

so a 2.0.0-rc1 ? It could a good idea to no delay to much the fix

I would ... release it as a 2.0.0-a0, but yes (a,b,c,rc - doesn't really matter in the pre-release scope).

I'll write release notes tonight and deploy it soon after 🙏
