Transmission Network Length (on and above 66kV): Observed 6% difference between pypsa-earth network and ZESCO data.
Transmission Network Length Analysis: check with stakeholders: ZESCO, others?
Distribution Network Length (under 66kV)
Write section in validation report.
Comments on distribution network validation
pypsa-earth doesn’t have distribution networks so far. There is a stream working on it, but it might be at its very early stages. The threshold at which distribution networks are defined in pypsa-earth is unclear.
After all, pypsa-earth is long-term capacity expansion model, so it is “acceptable/understandable” to set a threshold on how low we get on the voltage. Moreover, if we aggregate in nodes, all lines within the same node "disappear". Could this be the case for most distribution lines?
Ask Max if the lines with voltages 11kV and 33kV are on pypsa-earth. If they are not, @asolavi proposes dropping them from our analysis. If they are there, validating them should be similar to validating transmission network.
Bug in network length computations
A bug in network length computations has been found in https://discord.com/channels/911692131440148490/1148929819338354688. So far, the computations seem alright for Zambia (maybe they are not affected?), but we should keep an eye on the developments of this.
