Can we update the node version to latest for better local env setup?

I've forked the repo yesterday and found a major flaw that the project doesn't support latest node version instead it tells us to use the 18.x version for simply doing yarn and yarn dev
Is it fair to update the package,json to the latest version for better support?

Most of the time it's better to leave where as it is cuz these systems are not updated to date like other open-source projects due to lack of developers working on this, so it's better leave it where it is and if not it would cause some kind of errors or bugs in the system which you would have troubleshoot spending even more time.
