Desktop version has .deb & .rpm, but longest-existent major GNU/Linux is Slackware (and derived operating system, OS, distributions, distros, one of the largest OS distro families)... it's even easier/quicker to make a Slackware .txz package than those newer two.
People who use those newer two might be wondering how they can build a package from git, but I'm just wondering how to build/compile/make on Slackware and possibly UNIX like *BSD/IllumOS (mainly FreeBSD.)
