Release Schedule?

Also do you make the release off of the main branch? Super excited to see my changes get released

That document is totally out-of-date. 😞

We are planning to make the 1.20 release in the 2nd half of August, so we need to start wrapping up any new features, and disable those that still have a high degree of risk (I suspect inotify support will have to wait for 1.21).

There are also a largish amount of failing BATS tests that must be passing before we can release. I will file more issues about this later today, but I think we already have 4 to 6 open ones. They are not necessarily Rancher Desktop failures; it could also be that the something inconsequential changed that is not a regression, but that the test relied on. But it needs to be investigated.

We typically declare some commit on main our RC1 build to start manual testing. Shortly after we will create a release-1.20 branch, so that main can remain open for other updates. Any further bug fixes will have to be cherry-picked (or made directly in release-1.20). Once 1.20 is released, the release-1.20 branch will be merged back into main.

If any patch releases become necessary, like 1.20.1, then they will be build from further commits in the release-1.20 branch.
