It is certainly something we are looking at, but not something that will become available "soon". It first needs to be supported by Lima, and then we can see if/how this can work with the rest of Rancher Desktop. It could possibly become another runtime in the future, like we already have a choice of QEMU and VZ. |

Is support for Apple Containers (coming in macOS 26) something that's being considered? One of the pain points with Rancher Desktop right now is the high memory usage even when no containers are running. Instead of one big VM, Apple Containers will spin up and down VMs for each container individually.
