[BUG]: Imager not working

What happened?

I tried to use the imager to write onto a sdhc card but i accidentally gave it the wrong pathway to install to. After I noticed this I deleted all the files and the installer to do a fresh instalation (later i even deleted the temporary files in windows) but after i installed the installer again it didnt give me the possibility to choose an new path to install to instead it startet at the TOS and if i accept them there is the option to make an desktop icon and after that the download instantly tries to start but fails with an eroor popping up: the driver or UNC share you selected is not accesible or existent, please select another. Please fix or temporary solution because its planned as an retro emulator as a gift for sm.(also the sd is now bricked but that was my fault)

I have tried it on ubuntu and nixos.

observation:

1. it takes longer(way longer) to load the choose device and list all the available options.
2. older versions of ubuntu are not listed(22.04 server 64 bit)
3. if i try to write it using custom image, it says MBR does not have valid signature
4. i tried v 1.9.0 and at the end of the flashing it complaints partition does not have a fat file system even if i format it through mkfs vfat/fat/exfat or format through same rpi-imager
