Well, out of all the non-gimmicky bosses (no Pyrocar) he's a bottom tier boss thats somehow both unfun to play against and unfun to play as. Bosses like Pyrocar and Bonk Boy get a lot of shit for being atypical, but at least they do standout with how unique they are compared to other bosses. Painis doesn't, right now he's just a generic shitty boss where most of his relevance came from causing another airblast rework with how playable the boss was (and still is) against consistent knockback.

He has a few large issues that stand out a lot:

1. Cosmetic gimmick: This has a lot of problems by itself. Eating bodies is almost always never manually doing so with at most a 400 health heal which will always be outdamaged by mercs if he tries it. He automatically eats bodies in his range during his rage but compared to other bosses he's unable to choose targets effectively given minimum tools to do so and theres no guarantee he'll be able to eat bodies he's previously left on the ground before despawning. The state of his gimmick does directly lead to a couple other distinct drawbacks as well.
2. Low health: Having a built-in heal naturally does mean he needs a drawback and that is having lower health compared to most other bosses in the game, Unfortunately for him healing outside rage is never a viable and it's pretty often that the heals he get will most make up for having less health.
3. Self reporting: He is punished for playing the game, killing anyone will automatically give away Painis's position with the body outline so he is unable to be as effective with sneaking around and picking off anything or mercs since they will know his general location anytime he kills someone.
4. Rage: His rage only does two things: Uber and automatic eating. In the current state the thing his rage is most effective at doing is drawing out rounds excessively with how much rages he can get per round. Painis still doesn't get an easier way to target and kill mercs and, with how much buffs in mobility and such they got the rage he has is debatable the worse rage in the mode right now. Right now Hale on rage gets faster swing, movespeed and defense buff while still having a built-in lunge which gives him the best kit with targeting specific people and meanwhile Painis can still get bullied with excessive knockback being able to nullify his rage entirely and other tools existing which will stall out the uber duration.

Overall completely dogshit boss he needs more to work with.
