Describe the bug
After some arbitrary time, the viewport renderer breaks and results in weird multiple of images...

Here is a lightfield screenshot of the broken view:
image

I have to revert the file (or reopen) to revert the breakage. Interestingly, other running instances of blender are not affected, it seems to be tied to the instance that breaks (although ofc other instances can also break)

It seems that the breaking is more likely to happen when switching to 108 views, although it has been so random that it might has nothing to do with that.

Platform & Versions (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Blender Version: 3.4.1
  • Alice/LG Version 2.2 (latest)

Attach log files
Head over to Blender's addon directory (Don't know where this is?), in that directory go to '/AliceLG/logs/', and attach the pylightio.log and alice-lg.log here:
pylightio.log
alice-lg.log

I hope that we can enjoy more realtime previews in the future, that would seal the deal for interactive lightfield modelling
Thank you so much for the awesome addon.

Hi @SinanAkkoyun, sorry for the late answer. Does this issue still persist or did it resolve for you?

Hi,
np! Given the latest commits are 7mo old, yes, the issue still persists, also the add-on likes to crash blender after some time when trying to render the preview quilt

Well, not all issues are always connected to the code base – sometimes it's hardware issues, settings, Blender itself, etc. That's why I am asking despite the age of the last main branch commits. ;)

This one will be tough to solve probably, because I can not easily reproduce it. Some questions for my understanding:

  • The broken viewport you see (and made a screenshot of) is the one in the Looking Glass itself?
  • Do you manually or automatically update the lightfield viewport?
  • I know you won't have a precise answer, but as an estimate: After how much time does this usually happen?
  • Are there common actions / workflows after which you observed that this issue occurs more often?

Furthermore, it would be helpful if you could do the following:
The next time the viewport breaks, could you immediately stop any actions in Blender and copy the Alice-lg.log again and also note down what was the immediate action before the viewport broke? There are a couple of error messages in the logs you provided, but its hard to tell what causes the issue and where these came from.

I see, mb, I assumed it was a general problem

  • Yes exactly, I took a Win+Shift+S screenshot on the LG
  • I manually update the viewport, sometimes after updating the LG viewport corrupts or whole blender crashes
  • Usually after 15 minutes I'd say but this is a really vague guess, the last couple of weeks I was developing unity applications
  • Hard to say, but I had a feeling that changing # views did impact the time significantly, also perhaps maybe changing the LG camera settings

Sure, will do! Right now my windows PC is offline and I am only running a linux workstation for work but as soon as I can I will report with more precise logs, I don't know when that will be though

Thank you very much for assessing my issue, I appreciate it!

Alright, thanks. Then I will wait for further input and we will see, if we can narrow it down.
