According to PHP roadmap version 8.5.0 GA is planed for end of year

Plan is

• provides SCL only for alpha/beta
• provides both SCL and base packages (modules) for RC

Start to test, fix, and build extensions, especially after RC1 (final API)

I tagged a new release for the purpose of updating the composer.json but everything else is identical. Let me know if you want me to do more. :)

Yes, it is compatible (not checked yet, as not RPM provided for now, but in the compatible list)

Perhaps you should also publish the 0.4.4 version on pecl (even if package.xml have no max version, which is an inconsistency between package.xml and composer.json)
