"Failed to read configuration" + loss of sd card writing (Send only)

Description of the issue

config was broken, and sd card writing failed, reinstalling did not help.

Steps to reproduce

1. open app

2. acts as if im opening the app for the first time, minus permission request

3. tries to create the keys

4. fails

5. i reinstall and make test folders

6. external sd card folders now are locked to send only

7. a few days ago i was able to send and receive, and this was the case for the past few years

the issue seemed to have started on the 15th of August, as all syncs had stopped on this day
seems like the same pinned issue: #49
this issue seems to have gone after A11, but then this issue was also not present for me on this A10 for the past few years, im not sure if it auto updated with a breaking change..

also, the web gui on the phone shows send + receive selected, but the apps gui shows send only, but even then the failed syncs show permission denied as the error

is it safe to say that all these issues are due to root access being removed?

seems like you were using syncthing with root before the update. using with root makes the config root owned and unreadable when launching without root. so yes, this is due to not having root permission.

hey 1 small questyion.
if i had A11+ then sd card root folders will sync with receive + send without issues?
(currently on A10)
