Grafana Cloud howto #518 #519

Conversation
Intended to serve as a step-by-step guide on how to establish time based telemetry appropriate for NAS monitoring; using all Open Source and Open Telemetry means. In this case utilising Cloud hosted metrics & log servers, which can, in-turn, also provide graphical dashboards based on the collected metrics.
This is proposed to enable more eyes on this type of remote monitoring. Note: as-is it is also in need of more refinement regarding the presented configuration: however that is, in-part, the purposed of getting this published in our docs. What is presented thus-far results in, easy onboarding with the following config graphed by the Alloy Web-UI: and a working Grafana Cloud dashboard. There-are, however, many improvements we can make. But I'm interested mainly in getting this published so we can get more feedback on what improvements might be made within the how-tos scope. N.B. The Grafana Alloy approach is some-what young: but represents an amalgamation of many older technologies. So we may just have to tend to this how-to as bugs and upstream write-ups improve. |
Remove an inadvertent url inclusion in the receivers example.

If Alloy was previously running, you will need to restart it via: `systemctl restart alloy.service`. | ||
