New category "Fonts" #42
Comments
I would prefer to rename, but I wonder if there is a better name than Appearance, maybe Look & Feel. But I'm not sure of the rank... Now which kind of font do you have in mind ? As IMHO, we should keep away from referencing fedora/rpmfusion fonts and use dnfdragora or gnome-software to search for fonts instead. |
And there is currently the msttcore-fonts in Utilities for now... |
Fonts like this: https://github.com/tonsky/FiraCode/ And some more |
Well, theses fonts looks like in a license compatible with their packaging in Fedora at the first sight. |
Looks like there are already there: https://fedora.pkgs.org/31/fedora-updates-x86_64/fira-code-fonts-2-1.fc31.noarch.rpm.html But Hack not. So I think we could name it Look & Feel and add some fonts. When they packed in the Fedora Repo, we will remove it. Like Dino on the next release. |
Well, that seems like too short term additions. IMHO, fedy should be kept for components that cannot be added to fedora or rpmfusion for the long run and or also common end-users needs that cannot be easily founded using gnome-software or dnfdragora. If we start unpacking random content, then we will degrade the reputation of fedy and many people will try to blacklist this tool as a scam. (you can browse the rpmfusion ml for such bad reputation). In others words, this shouldn't prevent any contributor to do the appropriate packaging work to fedora and/or rpmfusion. |
Ok. So I will rename the category. And add some fonts, is that ok? |
Well, no. why do you want to add fonts in fedy where they can be added to fedora properly? |
Ok, sorry then I misunderstand you. Ok, then I will try to add the fonts directly to fedora. |
FYI, you can have a look at the official guideline at https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/FontsPolicy/ |
Also JetBrains Mono software developement font: https://www.jetbrains.com/lp/mono/ |
I want to create a new category fonts, is that ok?
Or do we rename "Themes" to "Appearance"?
I want to add some fonts.
