We are currently using extra.release = true to "tag" release blog posts, which then ultimately generates https://blog.rust-lang.org/releases/.
Zola has a concept called "taxonomies" (see https://www.getzola.org/documentation/content/taxonomies/), which would allow us to build a proper tagging system (allowing e.g. tags = ["release"]). This would then also allow us to add other tags, e.g. one for crates.io-related blog posts. These tags then would also get their own RSS feeds and blog post listing pages automatically.
My ultimate goal is to link the most recent crates.io blog posts from the crates.io frontpage. For that I would need a crates.io-specific feed of some sort, and this can either be built with a custom extra.crates-io = true system like we use for the releases, or we would migrate the releases towards using a tags taxonomy, which would then bring most of this functionality out of the box.
I'm happy to implement either solution, just let me know which one you prefer :)
