When reading multi-column PDF, it would be advantageous to be able to zoom into a single column by double-clicking on it. Such zoom is implemented on multiple Android PDF readers and is of a great help on mobile devices.

That's a good point. I'm working (on spare time, so slooowly) on a selection mechanism. So I'm already dealing with the text boundaries. Automatic zoom on double tap on a block of text could be a side effect of this work. I'll comment here when I'll have something.
