This issue and the issue #556 are the same.

I'll take a look at code in the link you posted in the other issue as soon as I can but I would suggest that you consider using the OSR mode in Linux if you need to use the IME.

GTK2 applications in Lazarus should add WITH_GTK2_IM to the build configuration but I get this error when I try to build Lazarus 4.4 with that define :
glgtkglxcontext.pas(86,12) Error: Can't find unit GLGtkGlxContext used by OpenGLContext

Please, also read this message and this forum thread.

Consider migrating your application to GTK3, QT5 or QT6.
