there's a, ttf for apple color emojis from emoji replacer by cowabunga-dude for android, and their ttf file's size is smaller than this <about 30 mb>, but he clears that they're compressed images and if you pay you'd get uncompressed.

i feel that yours are not compressed images, right?

Hi @idontveapc. Before the emoji are compiled into the .ttf, they are indeed compressed with pngquant, and zopfli or OptiPNG as you can see in the Makefile. Uncompressed, the images take up 96.7 MiB, so without compression, the file would be huge.

The images are compressed, but not resized.

Compressing is a standard procedure when creating emoji fonts, otherwise the size of the font file would be too large. For comparison, a regular font file is usually smaller than 200 KiB. Our font is already 43.5 MiB – more than 200 times larger.

Out of curiosity, what are you planning to use the font for? When used in regular texts, the emoji images usually don't take sizes larger than 20px, so the compression is unnoticeable.

i can notice the quality, with text formatting they can be at any sizes.
