Some hosts are refusing to upgrade their PHP installs giving the fact that there's no Suhosin patch for recent PHP versions as a reason.

The FAQ (or some other part of the documentation, linked to from the FAQ) should explain what changes the patch made, why it's needed for older versions and why it's no longer provided.

This would provide a quick and easy reference for hosts to read and users to point their hosts to.

Personally I stopped using Suhosin Patch since I upgraded to PHP 5.3. I have only used it in PHP 5.2. I don't really see the need for Suhosin Patch in 5.3, 5.4 or 5.5 since memory allocation has been improved, as well as random number generator.

The only thing really needed for those versions is the Suhosin extension, that is still updated to work with current PHP versions.
