We do something very similar for the St. Louis Avian Rescue although the code is probably a bit dated! I'd love to see your implementation. :)

I have created a custom WP plugin for our rescue with a settings area that can be used to change colours, fonts, rows and columns, etc.

To ensure our data is safe, there is no front end access to ASM, details of the API link and account details for a reports account (used for live stats tracker only) are stored in our PHP config file.

I have then created a proxy plugin that decrypts and the UIs call the info via the proxy.

We have 3 different UIs:
