We are using new entry when an animal comes back to us (in various ways/reasons), but running into a couple hiccups.
#1 Reports
Currently im having a few issues with reports not correctly pulling the data.
Instead of the animal being taken in by stray (the new entry) it ends up having it doubled, or listing the old entry reason.
#2 New Enty Data
It is also strange that when the following happens:
return the animal via the return date from adoption movement.
Create a new entry.
old entry info is still there for the category and type,etc.... it does not pull from last movement information. So manually you need to do it. Which isn't an issue until someone forgets to actually change it.
#3 Search is broken The biggest concern we have is that we are unable to search by the old animal code. This is a problem in the event that an old document or record is found or brought to us and has the old animal code there is no way to find that animal now.
Is it possible to keep the old animal code as an option, or fix the search functionality?
The entry history option isn't used by many people, reports like " Movement Charts: Animal Entry Reasons" aren't equipped to handle multiple entries. We have an open ticket Animal Entry Reasons chart breaks with entry history turned on #1977 to create a report which will.
When using entry history the system should update the entry category with the one used in the return and set the type as "Surrender" by default for adoptions. If this isn't happening for you, we will really need some examples to investigate. If you are a hosted customer please submit a webform with your account number and some examples where the information hasn't been updated after a return and new entry so we can look into this.
You can search for previous shelter codes stored in the entry history section using the Advanced Find Animal screen, but not in the global search. If you have the advanced find animal screen set to default to "On Shelter", be sure to change this to (all) before the search in case the animal is not on shelter at the time.
