problem with ultrasonic sensor hc-sr04

i have trouble with an ultrasonic sensor hc-sr04, only gets 0:
rr.get_range_inch()
0
it's correctly wired and tested with arduino uno.
the serial is disabled in raspberry pi, inittab and cmdline.txt.
can you help me?
