Adding support for new databases

Hello,

how much effort would it take to add support for a new database that has a jdbc driver?
Would it be simple enough for someone who is a beginner in Go (but has lots of experience in Python and also used other languages)?
Would such a contribution even be accepted?

We are currently evaluating tools for db to db data transfers and Sling looks promising, apart from the missing support for the Exasol database.
