Pre-tag not in source code

I wanna add SyntaxHighlighter to show up some code previews on my site and that's why I want to use the <pre> tag.

When I type the code line I want and then select the "preformatted" format the tekst looks as preformatted but when I look into the source there are no <pre> and </pre> tags.

I tried a lot; also add the "preelementfix" plugin (wich creates a nice view for the <pre> element) but nothing works..

Offtopic; also a good option is to add "extended_valid_elements" and add it to the system settings
