Send mail to a remote server that is also a local domain

Hello,

I have a local domain "example.org" with a user "senderuser".
example.org is hosted on a different server, I only want to send messages from this Stalwart-mail instance.

I can send mail to anyone except example.org.

I put 'false' in routes but it is still trying to deliver mail locally, I get "Mailbox does not exist.".

What do I need to set so it is not trying to deliver it locally?

Hi,

What do you have in your next-hop settings? Note that false means that MX resolution if used. If you want to use a relay host you need to enter the id of that host. See https://stalw.art/docs/smtp/outbound/routing/#configuration

I have 'false' in next-hop.
MX points to a remote server not to the Stalwart-mail IP.

I also tried to specify the remote host manually and put it's ID there instead of 'false' but I got the same message that "Mailbox does not exist." and I couldn't find anything in the remote (MX) servers log from Stalwart trying to deliver there.

I have the latest stalwart-mail bin installed.

I don't want local domains to be delivered locally. I want local domains to be delivered to whatever server provided in the MX record(s).

If you do that you won't be able to receive any messages to domains managed by Stalwart. If that is what you want, set the next-hop entry to false.

Even with next-hop to false in the gui without any other entries does not work. It still tries to deliver locally. In my case it would only affect one domain and the others should still deliver to the local inboxes.

I did some more testing: next-hop for a local domain to a relay host only works when the recipient address exists in stalwart. If the recipient doesnt exist, the 550 5.1.2 Mailbox does not exist. error gets sent to the user.
