If you use imapsync instead, there’s an option to fix that by adding missing headers…

What happened?
I'm currently in the process of migrating from postfix+dovecot to stalwart, and used the stalwart cli to import my emails from maildir - however, emails that originally didn't have a date header (from what i understand) just get served as is; making them always appear at the top in your mail client, as if they JUST arrived everytime you sync. happens on both thunderbird desktop and mobile (android).
would it be possible to use the filesystem last modified date to "fix"/re-add the date header to emails without it?
How can we reproduce the problem?
I can reproduce the problem by doing the following steps:

headernote: thunderbird desktop loads your whole inbox at once, making this very annoying, thunderbird mobile doesn't (but due to some other issue, some emails dont show up at all unless you manually load the entire inbox, as they're not really chronologically sorted. this happens to emails with
Date
