Can I use Custom Database for Data Store and Queries in Stalwart ?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on modifying the Stalwart Mail server setup and exploring the possibility of using my own database system, different from the options provided in the default Stalwart DB config. My goal is to store user data and Store Data directly in this custom database, instead of the internal or external directories like LDAP.

I would also like to run custom database queries to manage the user data, replacing the built-in lookup queries. Has anyone here attempted something similar, or have insights into how flexible Stalwart is when it comes to customising the database back-end?

I was also working on that for a while and do figured out some queries that the stalwart using for RocksDB.

Yes, the lookup queries can be customized.

Thank you for the reply @mdecimus , I don't want to use lookup queries I want to use my custom database that is not provided by stalwart for example ClickHouse and use the raw queries Is this possible ?

Clickhouse or any database not listed in the documentation can't be used with Stalwart. Since rust does not support dynamic loading libraries you'll have to add this functionality to the binaries yourself.
