I do not understand this suggestion. Adverbs then would have to modify something that has something
in the SPR list so that they are combined with the projection of the verb trace before the overt
verb is combined with the rest.
But then the modification in VL clauses is unclear. The verb in a VL clause would not select a
specifier and adjuncts could never combine with the respective projections.
Shall I add this in the text?
