QComicBook allows to turn on Japanese Mode only if the Two Pages mode is turned on. But manga often has two-page spreads in the otherwise single page format chapters, so it would make sense to be able to turn Japanese Mode in single page view as well.

I know I'm resurrecting a dead issue, but you've got misconceptions about how scanners do multiple-page spreads. The idea you probably had in your head was that there was some kind of metadata in the file which specifies that two images should be joined together. That's not the case, what they actually do is join the two images together manually, which is often super-inconvenient for readers in two-page mode. Have a look for yourself, you'll see.
