Markdown Link extension: [text](link){target="_blank"}. Is it possible?

Dear Members,

Can I use the form above? The more fundamental question is can I extend link, "A" tag with additional attribute on any way?

With MkDocs It is possible with this plugin options:
mkdocs.yml

...
markdown_extensions:
  - attr_list   
...

It would be really useful as well at images adding borders.
