This issue is blocked by #1093 + #1119

Its full scope is still TBD.

Some initial work was started on issue #1077, but a more detailed investigation on all MG tests will be required.

Some MG tests might become simple unit tests. Some might be migrated into integration tests. And some might remain as MG tests.

This work can be started once stage 3 of #1120 Roadmap is completed.
