A future PML version should be able to support column/cell spans. Moreover, right now spanning cells will probably be rare, because it's a new feature in Pandoc 3. So for now you might want to just emit an error, or use an
Ok. Please let me know if you discover such features.

@pml-lang, I've managed to patch the pandoc filter files so that work again with PML 4 and pandoc 3, so I can resume working on the filter from where I left it.
Pandoc 3 introduced significant changes in the Lua filters API, but luckily they provided in the documentation a quick code workaround that allows to filters from pandoc 2 to keep working, which bought me some time while I manage to catch up with the updated documentation and properly refactor the Lua source file.
The filter was tweaked to conform to the breaking changes of PML 4 syntax, so the testsuite is fully working with the latest PMLC release now.
When I have time, I'll try to update the test suite and the filter, now that the bugs that were blocking further work on the filter have been fixed. It might take some time though, due to the pandoc API changes and its migration to Lua 5.4, which means I'll have to read all the filters docs again, from scratch, and study the new examples provided.
So, right now I have no ETA for when the pandoc converter filter might be ready, but once I've managed to play around with it a bit more I'll be able to provide you with some estimate.
Bare in mind that now pandoc 3 supports tables with spanning cells, which means that some tables can't be rendered in PML and will require
[html
raw-blocks. There might also be some new features in pandoc which are not supported in PML.Anyhow, the PML Playground is functional again and can now be used with PML 4, in case you want to play around with it and experiment with pandoc. The mustache templates have also been updated to work with PML 4 (but some of the other projects haven't, since they are going stale anyhow).
