I have a project to set up door switches at a non-profit I attend. The site has 2 large steel sheds.
I first set up a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro as a ZHA bridge. This worked well, except I needed a co-ordinator in each shed. Home Assistant ZHA supports only one co-ordinator. Recommendation seems to be ZHA for one and Zigbee2MQTT for the other (or both).
I had played with Tasmota native Zigbee when i first set up the Sonoff bridge. It seemed to do everything itself.
I could hand code the mqtt entries in home assistant but, having written software that autoconfigures Home Assistant in the past, I reckon I could hack together a berry script that generates the autoconfiguration entries reasonably easily.

After that, Home Assistant will just handle the MQTT Zigbee messages as the device state changes, based on the template in the autoconfiguration message.
I have a couple of different zigbee devices, one being a power outlet with power monitoring I can see that there are a few gotchas and complexity.
Initially, I'm only interested in door switch states.
