@Aruscha as with all open source projects, the answer to your question is "because no one has written the code to do that yet".
In general paperless is envisioned as an automated system, and was originally written with an automatic document scanner in mind, so SMB/FTP/email is sufficient to get documents into the system.
The project is written using django, so if you would like to see a web-based way to import documents, I encourage you to write it yourself!
@jat255@Aruscha I just discovered Paperless for me (personal use). I am very impressed with the OCR output quality and search, but I have to admit that I was a little disappointed to see no way to upload documents via web. To me this seems like a very basic feature, since not everybody has a SMB/FTP/Email-capable scanner at home.
Since I have plenty experience with Django, I will see if I can add this feature. Can't make any promises on delivery though since my schedule is a little unforeseeable for the next couple of months.
I love your project, but I still don't quite understand one thing, how is it possible not to upload anything via webgui or app?
This is always very complicated for us.
Hence the question why I can only upload via SMB /FTP?
