Do not hang when Internet connection is down

On Chrome, if my connection is cut, clicking on the extension icon hangs forever.
I'd like it not to hang & to show some status instead if possible.

When you write "the extension icon hangs forever", the FIP icon is presented with a yellow or red small square and when you click on the icon, nothing happens, no popup is shown?

Hm you're right it seems to be working sometime. Other times it really hangs forever but I can't reproduce that right now...

Ah, I don't know if I'm right, I was asking it as a question 😄 I wonder what does "hang" mean for you (a click with no action, playback never resumes when network is on, icon state does not change even though you're back online, etc.).
