When reading many real world files at once there may be some bad files that read_csv can't handle. It would be convenient if there were some way to tell it to skip bad files.

Since there are many different things you might want to do when there's a failure, we consider this out of scope for readr and instead recommend you handle with purrr or similar, e.g. https://r4ds.hadley.nz/iteration.html#handling-failures.
