Way to add a public forum / engagement to page? #27
Comments
OK! I have two drafts up, depending on how you'd like management/styles/etc of the forums to go. The first (and my preferred) is here: http://mammaldiversity.org/forum/vanilla/ The other is here: http://mammaldiversity.org/forum/flatboard A lot lighter weight, but only with faux-users, not real user accounts. If you give me an idea of which you prefer, I'll finish configuring that one (including prettifying URLs and such) and run with that. |
Hey Philip, sorry that I've been MIA-- I'm actually en Cuba! In Havana until this coming Sunday, been meeting with biologists here the last several days in efforts to build collaborations + get permits for fieldwork on hutias and bats later this year. I'll holler w feedback when I can! Abrazos--nate

@n8upham -- no worries! Enjoy! |
OK sweet— I prefer the Vanilla version for the forum. Lets go with that for ease of understandability and then see if we later need to add on functionality or something more advanced. Gracias amigo |
* Bump version * Start test for Vanilla and Flatboard forums * Setup flatboard * Save Vanilla forum info * Save Vanilla forum admin info * Vanilla postinstall and conf * flatboard conf * Update gitignore * try a rewrite for https and forum default to vanilla * update to https reflecting AutoSSL * formally update basepath (though unused) * doc * doc * version bump * Remove flatboard as per @n8upham #27 Fixes #27
How easy would it be to add a forum-type page where we could solicit feedback on the database and host a record of public discussion on taxonomic issues? This might be a "DISQUS" type thing in a centralized location (https://disqus.com/)
Also, is adding a Twitter bar a difficult thing to do? I'm modeling this idea after the WoRMS database: http://www.marinespecies.org/See #32Thanks, --n
