Full sweep of packages.json across all four platforms, checking staleness, official upstream recommendations, AUR maintenance status, and self-update behavior. ~80 packages verified fine as-is (notably: poetry/pre-commit via pipx match official recommendations; rectangle/vscode/claude casks all current with auto_updates; claude-desktop-bin and visual-studio-code-bin actively maintained on AUR).

Suggestions — not applied, review before deciding

1. firefox (ubuntu): snap → Mozilla's official apt repo (packages.mozilla.org, shipping since 2024). Mozilla-built, no snap startup latency or forced restarts on refresh. ⚠️ Requires an apt pin (Pin-Priority 1000 on the Mozilla origin) or Ubuntu's transitional deb silently reinstalls the snap.
2. visual-studio-code (ubuntu): snap → Microsoft apt repo. Both methods are official Microsoft; the win is apt-managed updates and consistency with the gh/eza/fastfetch bootstrap pattern — the classic snap is not defective.
3. cockpit (server): apt → backports. Cockpit's docs recommend the backports repo on both Debian and Ubuntu (-t noble-backports on the Ubuntu Server box) — the release-pocket version freezes while upstream ships ~every 2 weeks. Needs a backports install step in the engine (medium effort).
4. llama.cpp (arch): build-from-source reminder → maintained AUR binary pkg. ArchWiki documents llama.cpp, llama.cpp-vulkan, llama.cpp-cuda, llama.cpp-hip variants — backend depends on the CachyOS box's GPU (lact in the list suggests AMD → vulkan or hip).
