BullMQ Redis URL parser ignores username and TLS #498

Open

Description

@st0yanov

Description

parseRedisUrl in apps/api/src/services/QueueService.ts drops the username and TLS protocol from REDIS_URL. The same parser is duplicated in four cleanup workers.

To Reproduce

  1. Configure Redis with a named ACL user whose password differs from the default user’s password.
  2. Set REDIS_URL=redis://plunk:password@redis:6379/1.
  3. Start Plunk. Queue connections omit the username and authentication fails.

Using rediss:// also does not enable TLS for queue connections.

Expected behavior

All Redis connections should respect the username, password, database, and TLS protocol in REDIS_URL.

Environment

  • Deployment type:
    • Hosted
    • Self-hosted

Docker; BullMQ 5.66.0 and ioredis 5.8.2.

Version verification

  • I am using the hosted version

  • I have confirmed this issue still exists on the latest commit (not the latest tag)

    • Commit SHA tested: cc77d5f085a58c061b5a3877b77fa861f8292054

Logs / Error output

Authentication failure was reproduced using the shipped parser’s connection options.

Screenshots / Recordings / Additional context

Consider consolidating the duplicated parsers into a shared helper that preserves username and TLS settings.
