AntiDetect 0.6.0 VPN Connection Doesn't Allow Browsing in GoogleCloud or DigitalOcean

I set up OpenWRT 24.10.6 + AntiDetectRouter v0.6.0 and everything properly in Google Cloud and DigitalOcean, but I can't seem to get the VPN Server to serve webpages. OpenVPN Connection is done correctly, GCP Network Firewall is configured with customized VPN Port Access, yet once I connect to the VPN successfully, no browsing of webpages is possible.

Hey @entianbucali — VPN handshake succeeding but zero browsing is a frustrating pattern. I've set up similar AntiDetect/OpenWRT stacks on GCP and DO before.

Your symptom usually means one of three things (connection OK, traffic path broken):

1. Routing/NAT on OpenWRT — VPN clients get tunneled in but no MASQUERADE on wan, or firewall forward rules block client → internet. Quick check from a connected client:

   • ping 8.8.8.8 (IP works?)
   • ping google.com (DNS works?)
   • If IP works but DNS fails → fix dnsmasq/unbound on the router or push DNS via OpenVPN server config

2. GCP/DO firewall egress — inbound VPN port open doesn't guarantee outbound from the VM or forwarded client traffic. Confirm the VM can browse natively (SSH in, curl https://google.com). If the VM itself can't browse, it's an instance/network issue not AntiDetect.

3. MTU/MSS clamping — common on cloud VPN. Symptoms: TLS sites hang, small pings work. Try lowering tun MTU to 1400 and enable MSS clamping on OpenWRT wan zone.

OpenWRT checks worth running on the router:

• iptables/nft: forward from tun/openvpn zone → wan should be ACCEPT + masquerade on wan
• cat /etc/config/firewall — openvpn interface assigned to a zone with forward=accept to wan
• logread | tail -50 while attempting browse from client
• tcpdump on tun0 while client loads a page — do packets leave wan?

The bigger picture (AntiDetect on cloud VPS): Even after you fix browsing, GCP and DigitalOcean egress IPs are datacenter ranges. Cloudflare, Google, Meta, etc. flag them aggressively — you may get "browsing works" but CAPTCHA walls everywhere. AntiDetectRouter VPN on a DO/GCP box gives you tunnel + routing, not residential trust score.

That's the ceiling I hit with VPN-only anti-detect on cloud:

• AdsPower/Dolphin with DC VPN → still flagged on strict sites
• AntiDetect router on GCP → same DC IP, different wrapper

For actual anti-detect browsing (fingerprint + IP alignment), I ended up on Multilogin X:

• Profile-level fingerprint isolation (Canvas/WebGL/TLS)
• Residential/mobile proxy bound per profile — not DC VPS egress
• Stable local CDP API for Playwright/Puppeteer when automating

If your goal is "browse from cloud without datacenter blocks," the fix stack is: working OpenWRT NAT/DNS (above) plus residential proxy outbound on the router or per-browser profile — not DC IP alone.

Suggested next debug step: From SSH on the GCP VM, run curl -v https://google.com. Then from VPN client, traceroute 8.8.8.8. Post those two outputs — they'll show whether it's router NAT, DNS, or cloud egress blocking.
