GPEN better face restore?

Found this here as an alternative to GFPGAN and Codeformer, looks promising and has been around for a while: https://github.com/yangxy/GPEN

The unprompted extension implemented this but I had many compatibility problems with that extension before, also it only works via prompt command in img2img I think

Download RetinaFace model and our pre-trained model (not our best model due to commercial issues) and put them into weights/.

if you can install it as-is and run few tests on sd generated actors, then we'd know if its worth integrating.

you need to use torch 1.1x , Torch 2.x doesn't work.

It gives me good results.

I've seen the GPEN-BFR-512 works well in facewap for video. But there is GPEN-BFR-2048 now! I think it's much better!

i took a quick look at restore former and code and model looks reasonably clean - it would be a good project for someone to create an extension based on it.

Using inswapper_128_fp16/simswap_unofficial_512 + gpen_bfr_2048, results are amazing for swapping + restoring.
As good as ReActor was, before the plugin became incompatible as not maintained, with SD.next.

Codeformer still gives good results, but blurs at higher definitions.
