What is the validation in logs?

I always see two-step validation in the logs. What is it? I learned that from a specific epoch, model training starts to degrade rather than getting better. Is that what the validation is for? Does the so-vits-svc-fork check itself to see if the model has started degrading and stops the training?

I have a dataset of 643 recordings from a singer, all recorded in a studio with a nice microphone. The dataset includes his lowest to highest notes, different languages and styles he sang, and various emotions. I’m currently at epoch 3600 and the model is already very good. How long can I continue? Will it keep getting better, even by tiny amounts, with more epochs?
