Project Abstract

We would like to create a Web3 ecosystem dashboard that aggregates useful information into a single free-to-use community dashboard.

Grant level

  • Level 1: Up to $10,000, 2 approvals
  • Level 2: Up to $30,000, 3 approvals
  • Level 3: Unlimited, 5 approvals (for >$100k: Web3 Foundation Council approval)

Application Checklist

  • The application template has been copied and aptly renamed (project_name.md).
  • I have read the application guidelines.
  • Payment details have been provided (Polkadot AssetHub (DOT, USDC & USDT) address in the application and bank details via email, if applicable).
  • I understand that 30% of each milestone will be paid in vested DOT, to the Polkadot address listed in the application.
  • I am aware that, in order to receive a grant, I (and the entity I represent) have to successfully complete a KYC/KYB check.
  • The software delivered for this grant will be released under an open-source license specified in the application.
  • The initial PR contains only one commit (squash and force-push if needed).
  • The grant will only be announced once the first milestone has been accepted (see the announcement guidelines).
  • I prefer the discussion of this application to take place in a private Element/Matrix channel. My username is: @_______:matrix.org (change the homeserver if you use a different one)

Hi @Mikael337 thanks for the application. I have two initial comments:

  • There could an issue with the closed-source components. Note that our guidelines state that "it must also not rely on closed-source software for full functionality" and the program is pretty strict in this regard.
  • Both milestones are missing the default deliverables 0a. - 0e. Please take a look at the application template for an example of what it should look like. A blog article is only needed for the last milestone. But both milestones should still contain unit tests, Docker, etc.

Hello @keeganquigley,

We are currently in the process of open-sourcing everything, but this will take a while. I would not mind waiting and reapplying once we have it all open-sourced.

As for the second point, the dashboard would be live and visible to anyone that accesses the url. What would we need the Docker for exactly? Apologies if I have misunderstood the application of a Dockerfile.

Regarding, other points in those milestones:

  1. We are Unlicensed
  2. Documentation is inapplicable to us as Alphaday has no 'sending' functionality
  3. We can provide a document as a guide to give a bit more detail on how to test a completed dashboard's functionality. It will be a reference to the points listed in Milestone 1 (Development and Deployment).
  4. We will publish articles and other posts about the dashboard and the project once we deploy it.

Should I postpone this application to a later date, when we have it all open-sourced or should I resubmit after updating the milestones in the application?

Thanks @Mikael337 would you be able to open source everything upon the first delivery? If so than it shouldn't be a problem. If not, or if it would be more than a month or two, I would recommend postponing until then like you mentioned.

Lmk how you'd like to proceed. Thanks!

Hello @keeganquigley,

I have discussed this with the team and the devs are currently very busy developing a new mobile application set to launch this year. Open sourcing Alphaday will have to be delayed a bit, although the devs also informed me it'd only take them 1 week once they begin.
I'll leave it to you to either close this pull request so I create a new one later, or leave it open so we can resume once we open source it all.

Thank you

Great thanks @Mikael337 for the update, much appreciated. Sounds good, I will go ahead and close it for admin purposes, but feel free to create a new PR when you are ready. That's no problem at all. Thanks and have a great weekend!
