<p>My name is <strong>Long Wang</strong>, I am a PHD student in Dept. Mechanical Engineering, Vanderbilt University. I am working with Advanced Robotics and Mechanism Applications Research Laboratory (<a href="http://arma.vuse.vanderbilt.edu">ARMA Lab</a>).</p>
<p>My research interests include continuum robots and their medical applications, modeling and calibration of robots and force controlled exploration using robots.</p>
<p>I like to share the things I learned in my research and thoughts/experiences I have in daily life.</p>

<p>Robotic hand projects led my way to this field. They were the ones that motivated me at the beginning and I am still interested.</p>
<p>I started my robotics journey from junior year when I was in Tsinghua University, Beijing. One day I saw this cool robotic hand in Dr. Wenzeng Zhang’s lab and asked him if I could work with him. He said yes, and then for the next two years, I worked with him and got to learn some basic skills in robotics.</p>
<p>After undergraduate, I decided to continue to graduate study. I got the opportunity to work with Dr. Peter Allen in the <a href="http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/robotics/">Robotics Lab</a> at Columbia University. I spent almost two years there, building an inexpensive robotics hand from scratch. Those two years were very exciting and inspiring, and I was learning new things everyday.</p>

<description><p>This is new for me but I really enjoy learning and exploring in photography. It is very fun to capture beautiful scenery and landscape from different places when traveling. But I like it more to capture people, to seize the interesting moments in life.</p>
<p>I started taking photos using my phone and I was introduced to more professional cameras by a good friend. Now I have been using Canon 6D camera with only Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 since 2015.</p>
